Fourth of July Recipes

Besides dazzling firework displays and lounging by the pool, one of the best parts about the Fourth of July is the food. In fact, the holiday is the ideal time to fire up the grill, or jump into the kitchen, and try something new. From savory main dishes to patriotic pastries, here are a few recipes perfect for your Fourth of July feast.

Fourth of July Brie:
Even your appetizers can be patriotic with this easy and cheesy Fourth of July brie. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake brie for 15 minutes. Once cooled, arrange sliced strawberries and blueberries on top in an American flag pattern. Serve with graham crackers and enjoy.

Parmesan Garlic Grilled Corn:
This parmesan garlic grilled corn is the perfect side dish for your summer soirée. Preheat the grill to 350 degrees and remove all but the inner layer of corn and all silk. Pull the remaining husk back over the corn and grill until kernels turn bright yellow. Mix butter and one garlic clove in a bowl and heat until melted. Remove husks from grilled corn, brush with butter mixture, and top with parmesan cheese and parsley.

Grilled Hot Dogs with Hatch Pineapple Salsa:
Ketchup and mustard have nothing on this sweet and spicy chili-pineapple salsa. Toss fresh pineapple, diced hatch chilis, chopped red onion, fresh cilantro, and seeded Fresno chilis in a large bowl. Season with lime juice, salt, and pepper. Grill hot dogs and top with cooked bacon, melted pepper jack cheese, and a spoonful of salsa for a mouthwatering main dish.

Spicy Pasta Salad with Smoked Gouda, Tomatoes and Basil:
Impress your guests with this spicy pasta salad. Cook pasta of choice and rinse under cold water until no longer warm. Mix mayonnaise, milk, white vinegar, adobo sauce from a can of chipotles (or one minced chipotle pepper) salt, and pepper in a bowl to create dressing. Combine pasta, dressing, halved grape tomatoes, and smoked gouda cubes and add extra salt, pepper, and white vinegar as needed. Top with fresh basil, refrigerate until cold, and enjoy!

American Pie:
Satisfy your sweet tooth with this festive American pie. Preheat oven to 400 degrees, roll the pie dough into a large pan, and transfer to the refrigerator. Use a stencil to cut stars, and a knife or pizza cutter to cut ½-inch long stripes out of the remaining dough and place in the refrigerator. Mix blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon zest in one bowl and repeat mixture with strawberries in a separate bowl. Remove base crust from refrigerator and place the blueberry filling in the top, left corner and the strawberry filling onto the rest of the crust (similar to the American flag). Place the stars and stripes on the crust, sprinkle with sugar, and bake for 50 minutes. Top with vanilla ice cream for a tasty, patriotic treat!

Blueberry Lemonade Margarita:
Cheers to the red, white, and blue with this blueberry lemonade margarita. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and stir until sugar has dissolved. Add blueberries and lime zest and bring to a boil. After a few minutes, reduce heat and let simmer until the blueberries have popped. Remove syrup mixture from heat and strain into a jar to cool. Rim glasses with sugar and/or salt and add ice, tequila, triple sec, and lemonade into glasses. Top with blueberry syrup and garnish with a lemon wedge. Spice-lovers can add jalapeños for an extra kick! It can also be enjoyed as a delicious, non-alcoholic blueberry lemonade.
