Best Things to Do at Estrella Mountain Regional Park
Here in Estrella, we love exploring our surroundings and embracing the active, outdoor lifestyle our master-planned community is known for. We’re fortunate to be next door to the Sierra Estrella Mountains and have access to the beautiful Estrella Mountain Regional Park. Here are a few of the fun activities that can be enjoyed at the nearby park.
At Estrella Mountain Regional Park, visitors can find more than 33 miles of trails. These trails are designed for multiple uses such as hiking, biking, or even horseback riding. The hikes throughout the park range from 2.3 miles to 8.8 miles and are easily accessible from trailheads located at the park’s amphitheater or Rodeo Arena.
The park trails range in levels of difficulty, allowing those of all ages and abilities to find the right trail to suit their individual needs and preferences. For a short and easy hike, check out the 2.4-mile Baseline Trail. If you’re looking for a more strenuous hike that will take up most of the day, the 8.7-mile Pederson Trail is a great option. If you’re looking to plan a camping trip without heading too far from home, Estrella Mountain Regional Park is the ideal spot for you. The park offers seven RV sites, each with large parking areas that include water and electrical hook-ups, picnic tables, barbecues, and fire pits. If you’re camping with a group, consider reserving a group ramada. Here your group can connect small appliances such as a radio or Keurig and have a large space for activities. Group camping is permitted up to two nights and campsites can be reserved online.

Arizona is home to a variety of beautiful lakes and rivers that are used for many water activities such as fishing. Hundreds of visitors flock to Estrella Mountain Regional Park each year to fish along the Gila River that flows through the park. Depending on the current rainfall, the river is home to many native and non-native fish species. If you’d like to fish at the river, a current fishing license is required by the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
Estrella Mountain Regional Park is also home to two fully functional baseball fields. Situated along the edges of the park, two lighted ballfields are available for recreational use. Each field includes six bleachers, two backstops, bathrooms, and a large parking lot that can accommodate more than 100 vehicles. These fields are great for practicing your skills or playing a casual pick-up game with friends and family.
