Your Guide To The New ISM Raceway
One of the many benefits of living in the Goodyear master-planned community of Estrella is being close to the Phoenix area’s most popular events and venues, one being ISM Raceway, formerly Phoenix International Raceway (commonly referred to as PIR). After undergoing a $178 million modernization project, the ISM Raceway reopened in November and is getting ready for two major 2019 race weekends. Mark your calendars for these unforgettable events and check out our guide to the new raceway.
In late 2017, Phoenix Raceway formed a multi-year partnership with ISM Connect, a pioneer in smart venue technology. The partnership included naming rights for a modernized venue as well as a major renovation including a digital fan engagement experience, with a goal of creating an interactive fan experience.
A huge part of the renovation included a 35-foot long pedestrian tunnel leading to the INfield, a fan area in the center of the track that includes various concessions and open-air interactive garages. The INfield gives wristband buyers access inside the track, allowing them to get up close with the drivers. Fans can watch crews work on cars from inside one of the garages, see drivers walk the red carpet, and watch interviews as drivers are introduced between the pit and the track. To finish the experience, INfield participants get to join in on the post-race celebration within Gatorade Victory Lane.
Updated Seating And Food Venues
As part of creating a better fan experience, ISM Raceway renovated the track’s seating, added new food options, and installed Wi-Fi throughout the raceway. Bleachers were removed and replaced with 42,000 stadium-style seats that have seat backs and cupholders. Suites were also updated and added into two of the five garages.
Along with upgraded seating, fans will have new cuisine choices ranging from gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches at Big Cheesie’s to Asian-fusion style street food at fEast. Other new dining venues include The Sweet + Salty shop, Coop 623, Twisted Tea Tailgate Deck, and The Loyal Slice. New libation stations were also added including Dos Equis Turn Four and the Tecate Pit Stop.
