6,000 Homes and Counting

What do you get when you combine 6,000 homes, 18,000 residents, small town living, and a managing developer committed to a long-term vision? Estrella’s vibrant new home community!

Since its grand opening in 1988, Estrella has marked many milestones and we are excited to share the latest – recently, the Goodyear community closed on its 6,000th home!

As we celebrate current and future growth, it’s a good time to look back at some of the things that have shaped Estrella, and why so many people choose to call it home.

It all started in 1984 when the property, formerly a federal land reserve, was released by the government for private ownership. Not long afterward, plans for a grand community were born and construction began on North and South Lakes in 1986. Combined, the lakes cover a total of 72 acres and have become one of Estrella’s most prized amenities.

After enjoying several years of steady growth, the community was ready to unveil The Golf Club of Estrella. In 1999 the dynamic 18-hole Nicklaus Design was opened and, to this day, the spectacular course and dining events at the club continue to be favorites among residents and nonresidents alike. Be sure not to miss the hopping happy hour at the Player’s Grill during the cooler months.

As more and more residents enjoyed a variety of resort-style amenities such as Starpointe Residents Club, hiking trails and the two lakes, Newland realized it was time for Phase II. To accommodate growth, Estrella’s second community, Montecito, was opened in 2007. A few years later, in 2010, residents celebrated the addition of Safeway to Mountain Ranch Marketplace and the grand opening of CantaMia, Estrella’s gated 55-Plus community. A recent, and much anticipated, milestone was the 2016 opening of Presidio, the community’s second residents club.

The amenities in Estrella give residents easy access to fun and practical conveniences, like a grocery store, and are located right inside the community. This helps preserve the small-town feel and allows neighbors to grow closer and develop lasting friendship

When Newland Communities became Estrella’s managing developer in 2005, we set out to elevate the community’s position as the premier place to live in the West Valley and carry on its trend of positive growth. We’ve come a long way in accomplishing that goal, but the work isn’t finished yet. As the community thrives, Newland will continue to bring amenities, parks, new home neighborhoods, and commercial offerings to Estrella. The overall land plan is approved to include approximately 50,000 homes and 1,600 acres of commercial space, which will be built out over the next 15-20 years. As Estrella grows, Newland will strive to maintain that true sense of community that our residents have come to love and which remains a cornerstone of Newland’s vision for Estrella.
