Much More than Beauty: Miss Teen Arizona Isabella Hart

Did you know that we have royalty living among us in Estrella? Miss Teen Arizona International, Isabella Hart, started her state reign in May. Bella competed internally in Charleston, West Virginia for the world title of Miss Teen International.

Bella placed in the Top 10 Internationally. The competition took place in May during final exams and graduation, making her life very busy. She had a wonderful time, discovered a new passion for who she is, and was greatly inspired by the experience. She even found a new best friend! This fall she’s decided to attend Estrella Community College with plans to attend NAU later, the school  where her own parents met and fell in love.

Isabella, or Bella as she’s affectionately called, hadn’t planned in advance to compete for the Arizona title. One week prior to the competition the contest venue was changed to the Estrella Foothills High School Performing Arts Center. In return for the last minute venue change, the high school was able to nominate competitor from the student body. Bella was nominated to compete by Athletic Director Wright, her track coach, “… it meant so much that he thought of me“ Bella beamed.

Unlike the Miss America Pageant, which prepares contestants for potential beauty-related careers (modeling, broadcasting and more); The Miss Teen International competition focuses heavily on the contestants “platform” goals (40 percent of the overall scoring). A member of the national honor society, Bella’s platform will focus on battling teen anxiety. “ I’d like to share positive messages that support good mental health for teens. “ Bella said. Another difference in the two major competitions, Bella will compete wearing an athletic outfit instead of a bathing suit.

Supported by sponsors Estrella Women's Health Center, Oasis Bagels, McDowell Dentistry, and West Valley Vision Center, Bella will pay for her travel and lodging expenses, contest gowns and accessories. She estimates it will cost her $5,000 or more to compete for the international contest title.

The Miss Teen Arizona International competition streamed live August 4-6 on the international pageant Website,
