Fun and Relaxing Phoenix Area Staycations
With resort-style pools, spa packages, fine dining and special events a “staycation” can be just as fun, and potentially even more relaxing, than planning and organizing an out-of-state vacation. Arizona is home to some of the best staycation destinations to be had, whether for you and your significant other or the entire family. Many are located within an easy drive from Estrella.
Below are some of our favorites.
Located less than 15 miles from Estrella, The Wigwam has a reputation as one of the Southwest’s landmark resorts. The 440-acre property includes four pools (the main pool boasts dual waterslides), fine and casual dining, 54 holes of championship golf and the Red Door Spa by Elizabeth Arden. The resort’s location makes it easy to enjoy near-by attractions including the Wildlife World Zoo and a free shuttle to the Tanger outlet mall at Westgate.
Phoenix Magazine has named this the most family-friendly stay, but the AAA 4 Diamond resort offers an experience that all ages will enjoy. A few notable amenities include a lazy river and water slide and the Family Escape Kids’ Club where children ages 4-12 are treated to special activities such as gaming tournaments, craft projects and pajama parties. This is a great place to take an adventure, treat yourself at the spa or spend a day on the golf course. A variety of dining options are available and the resort is located just across the way from the City Center and Desert Ridge, two outdoor mall and entertainment centers.
Wild Horse Pass offers Vegas-style gaming in its casino and luxury pampering in the Forbes Four Star Aji Spa. The property is also home to a variety of bars and a night club. If that weren’t enough the resort is home to the state’s only AAA Five Diamond/Forbes Five Star restaurant, Kia. Recently named one of Open Table's 10 Best Restaurants in America, Kia offers an elegant fine-dining experience that will be found on any foodie’s bucket list.
Located at the base of Camelback Mountain, no Arizona staycation list would be complete without mentioning The Phoenician. The AAA Five Diamond property features a diverse range of dining options, championship golf and tennis experiences and plenty of pampering at The Centre for Well-Being and Salon Mila spa. A variety of boutique shops and a museum-quality art collection can also be found onsite.
There are countless numbers of ways to take an Arizona staycation, including staying home in Estrella. Residents can enjoy a number of outdoor activities inside the community including golf, hiking, kayaking and hanging out by the pool at Starpointe. So whether you decide to find a resort nearby, or relax at home, the Phoenix area is the perfect place to recharge and enjoy yourself without the costs of an out-of-state trip.
