A Very Special Group - CantaMia Founders’ Club

Estrella’s 55-Plus community, CantaMia, hosted its grand opening in 2010 with the unique approach of integrating an active adult community within a robust, existing master-plan. Trusting the vision for CantaMia, the first 100 to purchase a home in the community were a very special group and became what we call – The Founders’ Club.

Mary Jo Brogden is a member of The Founders’ Club and recalls that at the time, moving into CantaMia felt like taking a leap of faith. While the community was beautiful, it was still considered to be in a bit of a remote location. The Founders’ Club became a very tight-knit group and would meet up often, sometimes daily. While sitting by the pool or community fire pit they would share information with each other about the best nearby places for dining or shopping and tips for making the most of their new community. Together the Founders’ Club blazed the CantaMia trail.

Now, CantaMia is a vibrant, active community with a 29,000 square-foot residents club called The Village Center, full calendar of social events and plenty of resort-style amenities. But despite the growth CantaMia has enjoyed over the years, members of The Founders’ Club continue to be pillars of the community. On display on the Village Center’s “Wall of Notes” is the name of each of the 100 founding residents. It’s a small way to honor the first who made this community their home.

To this day, The Founders’ Club maintains a special bond and lasting friendships. More than neighbors, they became a family…which is exactly what they hoped to find in their new community.
