Even though Estrella is home to a wide variety of amenities, a trip north is always a great change of pace for its residents. Northern Arizona offers a ton of fun with a host of weekend destinations. Information on a few weekend getaways is listed below:
The city of Sedona, just two hours away, is nestled among red rocks in a geological wonderland. Multi-hued stone formations jut upward from the high desert floor creating a vivid setting that changes hourly with the light. When USA Today compiled their Most Beautiful Places in America list, Sedona claimed the top spot. From amazing tours through the canyon to the quaint little town providing a bevy of wonderful restaurants, galleries and shops, there is something to capture the attention of visitors of all ages.
A list of activities, events, restaurants and other points of interest are available at www.visitsedona.com.
Located in the high country mountains and also approximately two hours away, Flagstaff is not the Arizona that Valley residents are accustomed to. At 7,000 feet elevation, temperatures rarely exceed 90 degrees and the forested landscape and scenery is a refreshing change from the desert. Flagstaff offers a diverse range of activities, and while suited for the outdoor enthusiasts, the city is full of things to keep you busy both inside and out.
Extend your weekend getaway with the next destination on the list; Flagstaff is only 80 miles from the Grand Canyon and close to seven national parks and monuments. For more information on things to do in Flagstaff and the nearby destinations please visit www.flagstaffarizona.org.
The Grand Canyon:
There is a reason Arizona is named the Grand Canyon State. As one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Canyon’s sheer size and beauty is awe-inspiring, and the perfect destination for a family weekend or a romantic getaway. The Grand Canyon can be experienced at four general destinations: the South Rim, Grand Canyon West, Grand Canyon East and the North Rim.
