2015 highlights for the Estrella community
Monday, December 28, 2015
With 2016 underway, it’s a great time to think about all the wonderful things that happened in our community in 2015. With so many fun community events, major amenity upgrades, and resident successes, there are a lot of good things to choose from. Here are a few of our favorites.
When we think of our Estrella residents, we often picture active, outdoorsy people. We saw those characteristics reflected in our most popular community events this year. Hundreds came out for the 3rd Annual Salute Our Troops Run in November, once again benefiting the Military Assistance Mission (MAM). And for the first time in Arizona, the popular Flavor Run came to Estrella, giving both residents and non-residents the chance to “taste the fun” as they ran through clouds of fruit-flavored, colorful powder.
What else do people in Estrella love? Well, arts and culture of course! This passion brought the community together for the 2nd Annual Goodyear Lakeside Music Fest, a celebration of music with performances from a wide range of music genres. In September, we were treated to a magical performance of “Ballet Under the Stars” by Ballet Arizona. We also brought the art community to our doorstep with the return of the Lakeside Farmers Market, where local artisans will continue to offer their wares on the third Saturday of every month through April 2016.
Amenities & Builder Highlights
Amenities make life sweet — and Estrella just got a whole lot sweeter with some major amenity upgrades this past year. We broke ground on a second residents club, Presidio, scheduled to open late summer 2016. Residents will be able to exercise in the 3,400-square-foot fitness facility, enjoy a date night at the café and beer/wine bar, or cool off at the beach-entry pool and splash pad.
We also introduced a newly renovated Information Center including an interior remodel, new technology, a self-service coffee bar and more. If you haven’t had a chance to come and check it out, you should definitely stop by. It’s a great place to warm up with a cup of coffee after a brisk walk around the lake.
It’s also been a big year for our builders. Gehan Homes was introduced to Estrella in early 2015 and debuted the new neighborhood of Palazzo in our Montecito community. They have two models to tour and five different home plans to choose from. You can learn more about the Palazzo neighborhood here: http://www.estrella.com/homefinder/builders/
AV Homes upgraded all sorts of things in their 55-Plus community, CantaMia. Our active residents there have really enjoyed the addition of a tennis court, two bocce courts and four Pickleball courts. The new ramadas, desert succulent garden and fenced dog park get a lot of use from the outdoor-loving crowd. AV Homes also invested in a 1,444 square-foot art studio to round out their upgrades for 2015. Learn more about the CantaMia community here: http://www.estrella.com/homefinder/builders/
AV Homes wasn’t the only builder to make additions. Many of the other Estrella builders introduced brand new floor plans including Shea Homes, CantaMia by AV Homes and William Ryan Homes.
Residents Giving Back
We love how involved our residents are. The Estrella Trails Committee completed its newest trail — “Up There” —in April. It’s the newest in 20+ miles of community hiking and bike paths/trails. If your New Year’s resolution is to get in shape and get outside, hiking is a great way to do it!
Through a community partnership with the City of Goodyear and West Valley Trails Alliance, the award winning bicycle “pump track” was also built and introduced at Foothills Community Park next to Estrella Foothills High School in 2015. Pump tracks are a great way to practice balance and build core strength for all those great mountain biking trails around Estrella. Not sure how to ride one? Things to Come
It’s been a busy year! We’re looking forward to 2016 and the new changes it will bring. Some of our favorite events will be returning next year, like the Goodyear Lakeside Music Fest in April, the seasonal, monthly Lakeside Farmers Market. We’re also looking forward to seeing the completion of the Presidio residents club this coming summer.
Beazer Homes — one of the largest homebuilders in the nation — will be returning to Estrella this spring. Having previously built 800+ homes in the Mountain Ranch community, Beazer’s “Overlook” neighborhood will offer five homes plans for home buyers looking to join Estrella.
