Golf Club Of Estrella draws record number of golfers despite recession
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (Feb. 8, 2010) – In a lingering recession where some golf courses have found memberships dwindling and numbers of rounds decreasing, the Golf Club of Estrella has seen not only steady traffic, but increased rounds at their 18 hole, par 72 Nicklaus championship course.
“In 2009 the Golf Club of Estrella concluded one of its most successful years, generating nearly 38,000 rounds. The strong support of our Club from the Estrella Community and surrounding areas has been incredible,” says Tom Cortabitarte, General Manager of the Golf Club of Estrella. “Golfers find variety and challenge throughout the course, in addition to the spectacular views and exceptional service”
The Golf Club of Estrella features the first daily fee golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus II in Arizona and has been recognized with many prestigious accolades over the years. In 2009, the Golf Club of Estrella was honored with the title of “#10 America’s Best Courses, State-by-State” by GolfWeek magazine. The course also currently holds four out of five Editor’s Rating Stars as a “Best Place to Play” with the esteemed Golf Digest.
Covering an impressive 7,102 yards, the Golf Club of Estrella offers spectacular views with fairways that blanket the natural contours of the surrounding desert land. Its consistently high standards of service and unique setting have maintained loyalty not only from residents, many of whom are Annual Pass holders, but visitors as well. By marketing to the West Valley communities as far north as Sun City, extending special rates to guests of local hotels and lodging facilities, and offering a variety of promotions and incentives, the Golf Club of Estrella has managed to significantly increase its market share over the past year.
Recently, the Golf Club of Estrella launched the “Troon Rewards 2010” program, which includes opportunities for loyal guests to win more than 200,000 prizes. Other innovative incentives, including specials at the Players’ Grill and discounted golf rates for Estrella residents have been successful in attracting an increased number of patrons. Special events held at the Golf Club of Estrella have also contributed to its success. In fact, over 3,000 rounds of group events were held at the Golf Club of Estrella last year alone, including many charitable events benefiting Goodyear and the surrounding areas.
