Around the Valley

In addition to the full calendar of events at Estrella, there are plenty of things to do just “down the hill” in the city of Goodyear as well as the greater Phoenix area.

Goodyear’s annual Fall Concert Series got back into full swing in October. Each Saturday evening families headed down to the Goodyear Community Park with their lawn chairs, blankets and snacks to enjoy the cool weather while listening to some great music.  Bands featured during the month included: All-American rock band - The Monte Carlos, classic cover band - The Rave and six piece country band - Urban Country.

Dog lovers, be sure to check out the 6th Annual Wag & Tag at Roscoe Dog Park. Festivities will include demonstrations by Goodyear K9 police officers, a “Best Pet” contest and various pet-related vendors. The event will be held November 10, 2012 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Sports lover? Catch an Arizona Cardinals football game at the University of Phoenix Stadium through December or a Coyote’s hockey game at Jobing.com arena. Both venues are located in Westgate City Center and are an easy drive from Estrella.

As the Desert Botanical Garden celebrates its 35th year of Las Noches de las Luminarias, be sure to experience one of the Valley’s longest running and most unique holiday events. Each night of Luminaria, the Garden comes to life with the soft glow from more than 8,000 hand-lit luminaria bags and thousands of white twinkle lights. As you walk the paths with a warm cup of cider, the sounds of handbells ringing and Dickens Carolers singing remind you of what the season is all about. Make plans with family and friends to attend this year’s Las Noches de las Luminarias.

With annual events, concerts and sporting events there is something for the whole family to enjoy.
