Estrella is home to three highly ranked schools conveniently located right within the community: Westar Elementary, Estrella Mountain Elementary and Estrella Foothills High School. With both school districts’ dedication to develop enhanced programs it’s no wonder our schools are continually providing quality education to all students.
In 2011 Westar became a magnet school for the STEM program. This designation means the school has an increased focus on the study of science, technology, engineering and math. The school has designated a STEM Coach to lead the program and has plans to begin construction on a new science wing this fall.
Estrella Mountain Elementary School is excited to begin integrating International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum into the classroom this year as its candidacy process for the program continues. The IB program is designed to help students develop the skills necessary to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. Becoming an IB school is no small feat – interested schools must complete an extensive application process and it can take up to three years before a school is approved and can be designated an official International Baccalaureate World School.
Estrella Foothills High School is an A+ ranked school, rated as “Highly Performing” by the Arizona Department of Education. The school also boasts a state of the art performing arts center and championship sports teams. In line with the eco-friendly community, Estrella Foothills High School is one of three schools in the Buckeye district to take part in a 4.29-Megawatt solar generation project from Constellation Energy. The solar instillations at Estrella Foothills, Buckeye Union High School and Youngker High will generate enough power to meet 70 percent of the school district’s electricity needs.
Estrella schools have proven to be a valuable resource not only to families but to everyone in the community. Come learn more about Estrella’s outstanding schools and learn more about our commitment to providing the best for our children.
