
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (January 9, 2012) - Estrella by Newland Communities has partnered with Community Cares Lifestyle & Wellness Expo to host the “Stay Smart, Stay Fit Charity Walk and Festival.” The event aims to raise awareness and funds for local health and education organizations.
On Saturday, January 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Valley residents are invited to participate in a 2k charity walk at Estrella. Registration is $10 for single participants and $20 per family. All net proceeds from the event go directly towards Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, Liberty School District and Buckeye Union High School District. Register online or at Starpointe Residents Club until 9:30 a.m. on the day of the event.
Following the walk, guests will enjoy an afternoon of festivities promoting health and wellness lifestyles at the Amphitheater at Starpointe Residents Club. Throughout the day, attendees can participate in a Long-Putt Golf Challenge with a chance to win $2,000 and a Hole-in-One Challenge to win $10,000! Children will play at the Family Fun Zone, where there will be a craft table station, a giant slide and an inflatable jump house. Entertainment will be provided by the online sports talk show “Girlfriends Talk Sports with KFrye.” Karen Frye, mother of Phoenix Suns Forward–Center Channing Frye, and her co-hosts will be filming a segment about health and wellness at the event for their show. Delicious barbeque fare will be available for purchase.
The Starpointe Residents Club’s personal training and fitness class instructors will host a Fitness Zone, where they will offer fitness assessments and lead group fitness classes. Abrazo Healthcare's West Valley Hospital and Emergency Center will be onsite to perform free health screenings for guests.
