Estrella Lakeside Challenge & 5K

Estrella will host the Estrella Lakeside Challenge and 5K on Saturday, February 9, 2008.

The event will begin with a 5K run and 1 mile fun walk at 9 a.m. Registration for the run/walk will begin at 7 a.m. at the Lakeside Amphitheater. Participants can also PRE-REGISTER THROUGH ACTIVE.COM or at the Estrella Information Center. Everyone who registers will receive a race t-shirt and prizes will be awarded for first through third place finishers in both the men and women division of the 5K.

The 5K course will begin at the Lakeside Amphitheater and take runners around the lake and onto Estrella’s trail system. The one mile fun run/walk will also kick off at the Lakeside Amphitheater with participants circling the lake at a more leisurely pace while enjoying the course with family and friends.

Following the race a health fair will take place at the Lakeside Amphitheater from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair will feature booths from organizations dedicated to healthy and active lifestyles, as well as food and entertainment for the whole family.

Guests can also partake in a fitness obstacle course as well as the Estrella Nature Hunt. The Estrella Nature Hunt will give participants the opportunity to visit different sites throughout the community that pertain to healthy living and the Estrella environment. All residents are encouraged to join this activity by picking up a Nature Map at the fitness fair. The health fair and nature hunt are free to all participants.

Estrella residents can participate in the 5K run for $17 per person and the fun walk for $8 per person or $15 per family up to four family members.

Non-residents can register for the 5K for $20 per person and the fun walk for $10 per person.
