Estrella To Host book Signing For Colonel Richard Toliver at Starpointe on Saturday, August 15th
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (July 31, 2009) – Estrella by Newland Communities will host a book signing by Retired Air Force Colonel Richard “Dick” Toliver at the Starpointe Resident’s Club on Saturday, Aug. 15th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.Colonel Toliver’s book, An Uncaged Eagle, is an inspirational memoir of victory over adversity – the path to true freedom. The book begins with his family’s escape from racial oppressors in the backwoods of northwest Louisiana in 1942. The story covers his boyhood days on dirt streets and outside privies in Shreveport to eventually dining with the future King of Saudi Arabia. It is the story of the youngster who earned three dollars a week at his first job and ended up working for billionaire Ross Perot. It chronicles a 26-year Air Force career that included 446 combat missions in Southeast Asia, a lightening strike at 20,000 feet, a rocket-seat ejection over Germany, and a special assignment that had international ramifications. "An Uncaged Eagle was written to inspire and motivate those who may still be struggling to escape an emotional cage of despair and frustration in life,” said Colonel Toliver. “I trust they will be encouraged to seek the freedom I found – the freedom to create, dream, forgive, love, and to pursue the life available to us."Colonel Toliver and his wife of 47 years, Peggy, decided to settle in Goodyear six years ago and build their retirement home in Estrella. "After nearly forty years of moving during our Air Force and retirement years, Peggy and I finally found our permanent home in the community of Estrella,” said Colonel Toliver. “The beautiful lakes, breath-taking sunsets, and wonderful neighbors bring us joy in the senior years of our lives." Colonel Toliver is very active in the Estrella community and the West Valley. He has served on the Board of Directors for the nearby West Valley Hospital, he is a voting member of the Retreat Home Owner’s Association, and he currently serves on the Resident Advisory Committee to the Estrella Community Board of Directors. “We are honored to have Colonel Toliver as a resident of the Estrella community and so pleased that we are able to host a book signing for him at Starpointe,” said Beth Huerta, Lifestyle/Club Director of Starpointe Residents Club. For more information about Colonel Richard Toliver’s book please visit http://www.anuncagedeagle.com/ or for more information about Estrella by Newland Communities, please visit http://www.estrella.com/
