In celebration of its new neighborhood opening in the Estrella community, the design experts at T.W. Lewis by David Weekley Homes have shared a few tips to give any home a luxurious look and feel. These dos and don'ts can make all the difference.
Bring the outdoors indoors
Expand your living space with walls of glass that open the home to the patio/backyard areas.
Beam me up
Coffered ceilings with wood-colored beams add substance and depth to any room.
Use bold color in fabrics and accessories to add contrast and a “pop” of color.
Make a courtyard
Creating a front of house outdoor living area adds another room for entertaining. Try utilizing the front porch as a courtyard; it provides a grander entrance into the home and adds curb appeal.
Go au naturale
Use natural stone on a fireplace to add contrast and texture while breaking up a solid-colored wall.
Subscribe to monotony
Don’t stick to one color for your kitchen cabinets. It’s okay to embrace color, even in the kitchen! Customize your cabinets with multiple colors. Whether it’s the island that’s a different color from the cabinets, or the bottom and upper cabinets are different from each other, a change of color can really make a kitchen stand out.
Change the flooring in open areas
If you have a great, open floor plan, don’t add carpet in the family rooms to separate the rooms. If you have tile in the kitchen, keep it consistent in the family rooms to create a large space that is perfect for entertaining. Different flooring chops up the room, ruining that open feel you’ve just accomplished.
Rustic is not just country
Don’t confuse rustic for cheap. Replace closet doors with barn doors to add another dimension to a simple home feature, and to instantly create a piece of wall art.
