One of the pillars the Estrella community is built upon is its serene desert surroundings and an active, healthy lifestyle. In addition to beautiful lakes and parks, the community boasts more than 20 miles of paths and trails to keep residents outside and on the go. As the cooler fall weather takes hold, Estrella has several events planned to keep residents outdoors and in motion.
The first Estrella Salute our Troops 10K, 5K and Fun Run will be held November 9, just in time to honor our veterans. Proceeds from the event will benefit local nonprofit, Military Assistance Missions (MAM), which provides moral and financial assistance to Arizona military families. Race festivities will include a VIP tent to honor all community veterans and active duty personnel. For more information visit: saluteourtroopsrun.org.
Additionally, the first Estrella Lakeside Farmers Market of the season, held October 19, will kick off with a 2.5-mile walk around the lakes for breast cancer awareness. The Farmers Market is the 3rd Saturday of each month running October through April. Visit estrellacancercrusaders.org for more information on the walk for breast cancer awareness and “get your pink on!”
The desire to keep our community active isn’t limited to adults. Estrella Youth Sports (EYS) was created as a way to bring families together and provide a safe and fun environment for kids to participate in sporting activities. EYS offers leagues for just about any sport including t-ball, football, and even personal training. Registration is now open for winter basketball, and spring baseball and soccer leagues. For more information or to register visit eyskids.com.
Another popular outdoor event is the annual Estrella Winterfest. Held each December, the event features fun family activities including a rock climbing wall, bungee trampoline, and ten tons of snow for the kids to play in. A full list of community events can be found at lifeinestrella.com.
